Increasing the size of a park without increasing its boundary
The Callan Park Landscape Structure Plan project short-circuits years of redundant masterplanning in a complex political landscape by setting out a clear, broad based strategy that appeals to the interests of the multiple stakeholder groups. The strategy comes with a program that is easy to understand and execute, allowing separate works to occur as needed while ensuring they contribute to the overall vision.
Callan Park is located on the banks of Iron Cove Bay and is part of a larger sequence of open spaces that combined represent the largest open space in the Inner West. Its scale, location and composition make it an important open space in the context of the Sydney. In the context of the Sydney Green Grid project, Callan Park is positioned in a key intersection of Green Grid projects within the Central District.
